What is Second Wave AI Jobs?

A UK job board for AI enablement, adoption, transformation and AI operations roles at companies that aren’t AI companies.

The first wave of AI jobs was technical: researchers and engineers building models, mostly at AI labs. The second wave is about using AI well inside banks, retailers, law firms, housing providers, schools and public bodies. Those jobs go to people from operations, HR, L&D, marketing and finance, and they are scattered across dozens of job titles. We collect them in one place.

How we choose jobs

AI must be part of the job’s main purpose or core duties, not just a nice-to-have.

  • In: leading the rollout or adoption of AI tools, owning automation or AI workflows, training teams to use AI, leading AI change or strategy.
  • Out: jobs that only ask for “familiarity with ChatGPT”, engineering and research roles, sales roles (including sales enablement), and jobs at AI companies.

Every listing gets one of two tags. AI in title means the job title names AI. AI-heavy role means the title doesn’t, but AI is in the core duties, for example an operations manager leading a Copilot rollout.

A gold-standard example

The AI Analyst role at HSPG is exactly the kind of job we want to list. HSPG is a social-impact housing company, not an AI company. The role spans three kinds of AI work in one job: making data easy to query and visualise, automating how teams work, and building AI fluency so everyone uses AI well. AI is the main purpose of the job, not a nice-to-have.

Where listings come from

Public job ads and employers’ own careers pages: job boards like Reed, applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workable and SmartRecruiters, and hiring managers’ own LinkedIn posts. We write every summary ourselves, link every Apply button to the original ad, check listings are still live, and only show pay when the employer does.
